Tutor feedback on Assignments Five and Six

Last week I had a google hangout with my Tutor to discuss Assignments Five and Six plus moving towards preparing for assessment.

Assignment Five

Chris felt the presentation of this piece worked very well. He commented on the inclusion of the empty benches in the gallery space. I had had reservations that it didn’t look ‘professional’ enough however as Chris pointed out, Tutors/Assessors recognise we are students on a learning journey and a few minor imperfections are expected/tolerated. He commented on the text on the back wall, which a member of my Landscape group had also pointed out. This is something that’s easy enough to adjust. The other comment was about how more variation in season/weather in the sense that being able to shoot this over a period of time may have portrayed a sense of transition which is something I hadn’t considered. Overall, the feedback for this was very positive.

Assignment Six

As much as I was pleased with the outcome of this assignment, I was slightly nervous about this submission in case it was too far from the brief but Chris liked it for it’s simplicity and minimalist nature. He was not keen on the mobile idea, instead sticking with the simple presentation of a typological series. He pointed out that I probably need to reference ‘still life’ which is something I’d considered but at the time wanted to keep things simple. We acknowledged that the accompanying text was an improvement on previous submissions and I voiced that the piece had been conceived in it’s entirety which meant it was constructed like a jigsaw puzzle rather than a linear progression.

Preparing for assessment

Chris thought that my blog was well constructed however alerted me to an error with the category for my Assignment Five research, again easy enough to rectify. He also pointed out that my last Critical analysis post was back in May which I hadn’t realised. I have been prioritising the assignments and had put the work he’d advise me to look at on the back burner until I was ready to rework my assignment submissions, so this will be my next task.

Getting to grips with the learning outcomes and preparing for a digital submission of this unit feels a bit daunting however having read through some of the information more carefully, I think it is probably a bit more straightforward than I first thought.

So next step is to complete the critical analysis posts. Complete the final two coursework pieces. Rework my assignments and present them on my blog as finished pieces. Check through my blog for any errors. Write a final post relating to the learning outcomes which will form the basis of my assessment submission once the G-drive comes available.
