It was a relief to get positive feedback on the essay as I’d found it hard to get it done. In hindsight, I think it was because of the slight issue that Chris has pointed out. When I was doing the background reading, I had a sense that Class was a big issue in relation to our National identity and the ownership of both the Landscape itself and the narratives that surround it.
When we go back to 19th Century Britain, this is quite clear cut but as we move to modern times it becomes much more complex. I think I started to run in to problems as my essay went on, to be able to incorporate the Class issue ‘neatly’ into my argument especially within 2000 words. As Chris has suggested, it may be that I adjust my title and focus a bit more on National identity rather than focus on Class or I find a way to expand certain arguments. For now I’m happy to get on with finishing Assignment Three.
