Thinking about presentation

Mobiles

I wanted to find a way of presenting Assignment Six creatively but bearing in mind that we are looking to present digitally. I had the idea of creating a mobile as I had a sense that it was something that was dynamic in nature but also had an element of memorial. It seemed a fitting way to display these images.

After a little bit of research, I was surprised to find that mobiles feature as a fine art form that began in the early 20th Century when Russian artists and kinetic sculptors Aleksander Rodchenko, Naum Gabo, and Vladimir Tatlin began to experiment with it. This was followed by Man Ray who presented a piece called ‘Obstruction’. It was then Alexander Calder who really began to develop the mobile as an art form and produced hundreds over the next forty years.
