I have to be honest, we buried our very lovely old cat yesterday. I had to make that difficult decision which had been pending for some months now. Today I’m heartbroken. He’s buried under the lavender next to his buddy who we lost last summer. It’s difficult to focus on writing academically and from the snippets I’ve read on other students blogs, I think we’re all finding things a bit difficult right now.
What I have been doing though, is going out with my camera most days for a walk. I found new places to photograph, places I’ve not been to before. There are several lovely little woodland areas that I can use for a rework of assignment two. Although I’m going to forge ahead with my original idea for assignment three with, I hope, a realistic expectation that at some point before the end of the year, I’ll be able to get the images that I want, I’ve realised that my hopes for travelling up to Norfolk to photograph Holkham beach might not be.
I wanted to explore liminal spaces. What I’ve been doing is photographing empty car parks primarily but also thinking about bridges and tunnels
I’ve been quite interested in symmetry and have experimented with possibly splitting the images with the idea of literally the space in-between.

I’m approaching everything very back to front but it’s a case of doing what we can. I’m going to continue to gather material for this.

I am so sorry to read about the loss of your cat, it is never easy to make ‘the decision’ and even harder in these times, when we rely on our pets to keep us company.
I like the idea of splitting the images, the example you give breaks up the wall quite nicely in my opinion.

Hi Hillary, thank you, yes we are sad and of course you look for them unconsciously then realise all over again that they’re gone. I’m not supposed to be doing A5 yet but it’s what I feel like doing. Got some more today and think I may do them in colour after all.
