The most obvious location for me to photograph is the huge beautiful park that I have at the bottom of my road! I walk through it on my way to work and enjoy the changes of the seasons.
My plan is to photograph one specific scene on a weekly basis with a view to this being a final time-lapse/slideshow ‘thingy’. (I’ll need to find out the best way of doing this). In addition to this, I plan to photograph more widely, exploring the different areas of the park. Maybe this edits down to one good photo for each month.
What I’m aware of and interested in, is how the park is used by the people who pass through it. When it snows, kids (and adults) sleigh down the hill, there’s quite a mass of collective excitement. In the Summer, workers, students eat their lunch in the sun. In Spring there is a mass of Cherry blossom and daffodils and in the Autumn you watch the leaves turn and finally drop.
There are bloody squirrels everywhere and several families of swans on the river. People pass through, walk their dogs, exercise, there are concerts in the Summer, fireworks in November and Park run every Saturday.
This space has a life of it’s own and ideally, this is what I want to capture and document. I think this is about how the local population responds to the transitions of the seasons and in turn how the park is used.
