I began my journey with OCA as a bit of fun, a new challenge as a means of personal development. It was only three years ago that I bought a camera and I had no previous experience of photography or the art world in general. My profession is Chinese medicine which means I work closely with people on what can be a quite intimate level. What I’ve discovered is that what I lack in Photographic experience, I make up for with an understanding of people, a broad life experience and a good grounding of socio-political issues.
In the previous unit, I wanted to concentrate on ‘ways of working’ and how to develop a coherent piece of work. My tutor also encouraged me to think about the physical presentation. At times I felt as if the actual images became second-place. My goals in embarking on Level two are to engage more with theory and critical thinking, this I think is where I’m weakest plus I have a pile of books which are so far unread! I would also like to improve my technical skills and incorporate the final presentation ideas into my initial planning.
I’m really excited to study Landscape, my love of being outdoors is what prompted me to buy a camera and start this course.
